Frequently asked questions
Is Apple Pay available for all Passport users, or only certain ones?
Apple Pay is not limited to a specific Passport plan tier. You must have an active Passport issued through a participating employer, and your employer’s program rules may determine where, when, and how the card can be used. Some card or issuer configurations may also affect how Passport is added to Apple Wallet.
Can I use Apple Pay with Passport online, or only in-store?
You can use Passport both in-store and online, but the experience may differ. In-store, add Passport to Apple Wallet and use Apple Pay at a contactless terminal. Online or in a restaurant or delivery app, enter your Passport card details directly, unless the checkout specifically offers Apple Pay. For orders placed on the Sharebite platform, use the platform’s standard payment flow rather than entering Passport as a payment method.
What happens if my balance doesn't cover the full purchase — can I split payment with a personal card?
Yes, if you have a valid personal card linked to your Passport account. Passport applies your available allowance first, and the remaining amount is automatically charged to your linked personal card. You do not need to manually split the payment at checkout. If no valid personal card is available, the transaction may be declined.
Is my payment information secure with Apple Pay?
Yes. Apple Pay uses a device-specific payment number instead of sharing your actual Passport card number with the merchant. Each transaction also uses a unique security code, and payments require authentication with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Apple Pay’s protections work alongside Sharebite’s account and Passport security controls.
