In celebration of Sustainability and Earth Month this April, Sharebite is thrilled to spotlight Avotoasty, a vibrant restaurant that’s redefining the coffee shop experience with a commitment to fresh, inclusive food and eco-conscious practices. As we honor these times dedicated to raising awareness and inspiring action on environmental issues—we sat down with Avotoasty to explore how they blend their passion for wholesome cuisine with a mission to minimize their overall footprint. From their innovative approach to waste management to their community-driven ethos, our impromptu interview reveals how Avotoasty is serving up more than just delicious avocado toast—they’re cultivating a space where sustainability, connection, and flavor thrive together.
Q: What is the backstory of Avotoasty?
A: Avotoasty was born out of a simple realization—most coffee shops don’t offer real, healthy food. You typically find pastries or pre-packaged items, so I wanted to create a space that serves both great coffee and fresh, nourishing food. Beyond food, Avotoasty has grown into a community around coffee, avocados, music, and well-being—a place where people can connect over food that makes them feel good.
Q: Can you describe the story behind the name “Avotoasty” and what it represents?
A: Avotoasty perfectly describes what we do—delicious, toasty avocado toast! Our menu is designed to be inclusive, offering options that can be made vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, and even keto. At its core, Avotoasty is about exclusivity through food, ensuring everyone can enjoy a wholesome meal tailored to their needs.
Q: Why are sustainable practices important to your business?
A: Before starting my business, I generated only one bag of trash per week at home. But when I opened Avotoasty, I saw firsthand how much waste businesses create, and I made it my mission to do our part. We use 100% compostable disposables, and we actively sort trash, recycling, and compost—I even call myself the trash police! Around 80% of our waste is either recyclable or compostable, including food scraps.
Q: If you could mandate one sustainable practice across all restaurants, what would it be?
A: I would mandate the use of biodegradable packaging—we should not be using single-use plastic in 2025! But beyond that, education is key. Every restaurant should teach their staff the importance of sustainability and how to properly separate waste. Small efforts make a big impact.
Q: What inspired your menu?
A: My favorite food: Avocado Toast! It’s the perfect meal—it has complex carbs (we love sourdough, baked fresh daily), healthy fats, and you can top it with protein to fit any diet. When we add new menu items, we ensure inclusivity—there’s always an option for everyone.
Q: What makes your business unique?
A: Beyond our delicious menu, Avotoasty is about community. We host fundraisers, events, and foster connections. We’re also super dog-friendly—we even serve puppuccinos! If you visit us, we’re probably already your dog’s favorite place.
Q: Of all the dishes you offer, which do you recommend for a first-time customer?
A: Definitely the Eggy Toasty! Imagine:
It’s simple, yet so good.
Q: What do you love most about working with Sharebite?
A: We love that Sharebite allows us to extend beyond our four walls—I’d personally love to receive a fresh, delicious avocado toast at the office for lunch! The Sharebite team is also incredibly supportive and ensures that our operations run smoothly, making it a great partnership.
As Sustainability and Earth Month reminds us of the power of collective action, Avotoasty stands out as a beacon of how businesses can lead with purpose and flavor. Their story—from transforming a millennial staple of avocado toast into an inclusive menu to championing compostable packaging and community engagement—offers a refreshing perspective on what it means to nourish both people and the planet. Through their partnership with Sharebite, Avotoasty extends their reach, delivering sustainable goodness beyond their doors.
